Biografia
Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (nome d'arte: John Denver), nato a Roswell il 31 dicembre 1943 e morto a Monterey, 12 ottobre 1997.
Cantautore statunitense si dedica a diversi generi musicali affini tra loro (folk, rock) ma viene ricordato come uno dei maggiori esponenti della musica country.
Il periodo apice della sua cariera risale agli anni 70, durante i quali era tra gli artisti più noti del momento; vanta di numerose canzoni all'attivo delle quali 140 sono scritte e realizzate da lui stesso.
Incomincia l'attività di musicista con una Gibson acustica 1910 regalatgli dalla nonna, presto John mostrò uno spiccato talento musicale e comincio ad esibirsi mentre frequentava il college.
Dal 1964 suonerà con il Chad Mithcell Trio (Denver, Boise e Johnson) per poi lasciarlo nell'1969 quando comincerà la carriera solista incidendo LP: Rhymes and reason.
Il 12 ottobre 1997 morì precipitando mentre era ai comandi del suo Rutan Long-EZ, esistono molte teorie discordanti riguardo alla sua morte infatti la dinamica dell'incidente non sia ancora stata chiarita.

Curiosità
Il cantautore acquisì il nome Denver in onore della sua città preferita, Denver -appunto-.
Nel 2007 lo stato del Colorado (U.S.A.) dichiara "Rocky Mountain High" canzone di stato.
